Is sponsor on the birth certificate denotes the names of the parents?

I am indexing some documents from Zimbabwe, it requires names of parents, but on the document, there is no names of such only sponsor names are available, Is it the same as that of the parents

    And, further, those Zimbabwe records are not birth records but baptisms, since the project is Zimbabwe, Bulawayo—Church Records.

    No, sponsor = godparent. It is specifically not a parent.
