Incomplete census page indexing 1860, Connecticut, Tolland, Ellington, image 5 of 40
I was attempting to add the family starting from image 5 of 40 at line 20. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GY1C-WN1?i=4
I found instructions on a page titled Incomplete census page indexing from Maile L mod
@W D Samuelsen contact me please This is something that can be fixed by the user, which is great since we don't send records back to be indexed again. The editing of the index is done when viewing the original image through the new editing feature. The easiest way to get there is to use an existing historical record of someone who was indexed, like genthusiast said.
To use the historical record: such as https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9R48-K5N
1. From the image, click the blue Attach for any name listed in the Image Index. This opens the Source Linker.
2. Above the Person of Record, click on the Record hyperlink. This opens the historical record like https://www.familysearch https://www.familysearch.org/ark%3A/61903/1%3A1%3AMHRC-LP2
https://www.familysearch.org/ark%3A/61903/1%3A1%3AMHRC-LP2.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSYM-4YQ
3. Click hyperlinks for View Original Document or Edit. This opens the image in the new editing feature. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9R48-K5N?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AXSYM-4YQ&action=view&groupId=TH-1942-22721-9112-20
4. Next to the Name in the top right, click the back arrow. This gives you a list of persons indexed in this image.
5. Click +Add to add persons that were missed.
Step 1. I selected the first blue Attach. Step 2 I selected the Blue Record https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MHRC-LP2
Step 3 I clicked EDIT arriving at Image 305 of 614, the whole page highlighted in yellow or blue if the mouse over it https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GY1C-WK4
Step 4. There is no name in the upper right, but there is a back arrow to the left of View this page was NOT indexed. which I can click.
Step 5 I can Click +Add. After entering the first name Arnold. I attempt to highlight, but the family is NOT on this page. They are on Image 309, similarly highlighted as before. BUT at this new page https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GY1C-WN1 the ADD is grayed out. I can click the only CENSUS PRINCIPAL and then have a back arrow with View [illegible] [Illegible] BUT I still cannot add.
A. When we are directed to the editable page it MUST be to the image that we started on, not to be found several pages later. Yes there is a split pages option, but that should be only needed to be used when a family entry continues on the following page. I have no confidence that adding an index entry that relates to a much later page will have any utility to the next user.
B. This being directed to a nearby page problem, seems to have its origins similar to a message I see often enough; I can usually find my record 1 or 2 images adjacent, then I leave a note of the correct image number for the next person.
C. The NEW Editable images are part of a much LARGER collection of records, which might be why the linkage is wrong. The original image was at image 5 of 40 while the new editable image is actually at 309 of 614., not at 305. The original film may have extra images that make the mapping of the old onto the new NOT an automatic process.
D. The page displayed title for ,image 309 is Tolland. Census Records 1860 | Hebron. Census Records 1860 BUT it should mention Ellington and NOT Hebron, which follows Ellington alphabetically in the County of Tolland. This incorrect title is present throughout from Image 1 to 614. Images 1 to 5 of 614 are NARA roll identification images, the first census page appears to be image 5, for Hebron Township in Tolland County. Could this be a reason for the offset error? AND the incorrect title?
Without expressly checking the whole roll, I would guess that there are 15 townships incorrectly titled in the new editable document.
Hebron has 37 images in the old set; the new set ends at image 42 of 614.
Coventry has 54 images in the old set; the new set begins at Image 43 and ends at 98 (with Two Additional BLANK records that are NOT in the old Coventry set !). That could also lead to unanticipated image mapping errors.
Bolton has 18 images in the old set; the new set begins at Image 99 and ends at 116
Lebanon has 57 images in the old set; the new set begins at Image 117 and ends at 174 (with One Additional BLANK records that is NOT in the old Lebanon set !).
The ordering of townships within the roll is not alphabetical, The Image Group Data index records all appear to show Hebron as the township instead of the actual township which will lead to searches failing. As a user I cannot edit that, for example image 175 has i t last edited Sep 20, 2022 Changed at 4:41:14 AM by IIMIReview291IIMIReview291
Thank you.

I have tried to edit this record a couple times and the edits do not seem to stick right now. This is a fairly new feature and it still has bugs. When you are on the page https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9Y1C-H4J?view=index&personArk=/ark:/61903/1:1:MHRC-L5Z&action=view or others like it, there should be a feedback tab on the left side of the screen. Please share your feedback there by choosing an emoji and then writing your comments in the box that pops up. Leave your email with them so they can follow up with you

Like Maile, I tried to fix things, but gave up after the first person, because it's giving nonsensical errors: something about too many principal people -- except there aren't any.
I've filled out the Feedback tab, alerting to the mess on the other pages as well.

@Julia Szent-Györgyi I was able to fix that by saying that the person wasn't the principal person, and I indexed a few of them, but I think I got some things wrong. (i.e. the name "Cami" seems too modern, and I'm not certain that Aucheus is a real surname. It got Google results, but those may be from incorrect indexes.)
