How do I shut off the hundreds of emails i receive that have nothing to do with my requests or with me? Any research question in the German help site from anyone and everyone I have no connection to that has been answered I seem to receive notification of. How do I stopped this from happening?

@TrishAndersen, no, "messages from other users" is a main-site account setting. Your Community account settings are a different beast. To get to them, start on a Community page, such as this one -- anywhere that the URL starts with "https://community" -- and click the gray circle-torso-icon-thingy at the top right.

From the resulting drop-down, choose "Account & Privacy Settings", then on the resulting page, click "Notification Preferences" in the right-hand column. You'll see two columns of checkboxes on the left: site notifications (popups and indicators on the bell icon) and email notifications. Uncheck all of the boxes in that second column to stop receiving notifications by email.

(I suspect the main culprits for the overload are the last checkboxes under Posts and Groups.)

In your profile settings, you can turn emails off completely. I have. I never receive any emails from the Community.

Notification Preferences will allow you to control what information you receive and how you receive it.

Is that the "messages from other users" button?

no you mean the Notification Preferences in the community--I just notice that link

Update: Thank you, now to see that it worked.
