Does Mr indicate male?

I am reviewing the following project:

US—Five Civilized Tribes Enrollment Records, 1898–1914 [Part A][MQZ3-1MH]


May I assume that the person listed as Mr. Miko Shirly is male? And that Miss Lanie Dolly is female? The Field instructions do not specifically address these titles.

    Yes, Mr. is male and Miss/Ms./Mrs. is female. There is an example of gender identification from Mr. on the Marriage Record example in the Project Instructions.
