Looking for the neighborhood where my step-grandfather, Horace White, lived as a small child in Simonds Parish between St. John and St Martins, NB (not sure of year). His 2nd wife was my grandmother, Ruth Merrill Watkins. They lived in CA. He had a son, Merritt.

Any information about him would be appreciated!

Thank you!

    Thank you so much, Paul, for opening up the history of my step-grandfather, William Horace White. Yes! those are his parents!

    I find several discrepancies in records attached, listing his first wife incorrectly. Her maiden name was Merritt. I know this because their son's name was Merritt. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G9BR-5CR

    Might you know how I may learn more about the neighborhood where Horace was born. Some records list his birthplace as Simonds Parish, others St. John NB. We hope to visit next month as we pass through NB.

    Many thanks!

    @ChristineMagnussen

    Is this the 1881 census record for him - shown as Horace W. and with parents James and Olivia?

    So glad that record was of some help. Unfortunately, I found it due to my experience of general research - especially on the FamilySearch site - rather than having any specific knowledge of Canadian records.

    It might help to post any further queries relating to Canada at https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/17-canada-research. You will just have to sign-up first to be a "member", but are probably more likely to receive responses to "Canada-specific" questions by posting there.

    Sorry I don't have the knowledge to help further, but I wish you well with your research.
