Why has the family search catalog not been updated?
I was wondering why it hasn't been updated in the past couple of years. Also, I was wondering if it would be updated any time soon.

It has been locked while the new catalog product is being created. The new one has recently become available, but I don't think it is quite ready for prime time. https://libcat.familysearch.org/

I reached out to those that are in charge of the catalog and they gave me this link to share with you which probably gives the best simple explanation of the current situation with FamilySearch's catalogs.

Thank you so much for your efforts in an attempt to clarify this matter.
Unfortunately, the link still does not contain any mention of the future of the currently locked Catalog, as well as appearing to get the date it was last updated completely wrong. We were advised well before September 2022 that the Catalog had been locked, so maybe that should read September 2021, as most of us would reckon we must be coming up to the two-year mark since any update (or the first announcement) was made.
Regular users will always understand the policy of not making forecasts relating to implementation dates, etc., but just knowing something about FamilySearch's long-term plans for the main Catalog would be a help. Also, if that "September 2022" date could be corrected, too, if possible.

I apologize that the information was not what we hoped. I wanted to at least give you something as I continue to search for better answers. Thanks all for hanging in there and being patient as I try to find a better source and try to get things corrected.
