For the engineers: 1860 Census search is not showing results.
Hello All,
For the past few months, when I've done a search in the 1860 census, or if in a search process, I chose "Category", "Census" & specifically chose the 1860 census alone, I get the following screen:
When I refresh the page, I briefly get this page:
And then I get the page in image one. The ONLY way to deal with this is close the tab & start all over again. This has also been a problem with another census, but I can't recall which one... sorry.
Can others check & confirm that this is a site issue?
Please let the tech folks know about this.
Thank you.
Steven

It works perfectly well for me. I tried to re-create your search as closely as I could, based on the screenshots.
Have you tried the usual troubleshooting first steps (try a different browser and/or clear cache & cookies)?

I just searched on one of my surnames, in Georgia, in 1860, and everyone shows as expected:
You might try searching without narrowing to a specific location since the placename standardization algorithm has moved some placenames to the wrong state.

@StevenMartin61 Sorry to read that you are not able to get search results to populate. As noted by others, this does not seem to be a system problem, but perhaps a problem with your computer. Here are a few things you can try:
--Check to see if you need to update your browser.
--Try a different browser.
--Clear your browser cache and cookies.
--Completely shut down your computer and start it again.
--Look in the lower-right corner of our computer screen and correct the time and date if they are not correct.
--Turn off or adjust the settings of any add-ons or extensions installed in your browser (this is the most common problem). You can see if add-ons or extensions are the problem by running FamilySearch with your browser in incognito or private mode. If things work that way, you can be fairly certain that a browser add-on is the problem.
--If you use a VPN, disable it while you use FamilySearch.
--If all else fails, it might be time to consult a computer specialist in your area to diagnose the problem.

@StevenMartin61 You might want to review this discussion: https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/146671/please-add-an-additional-explanation-when-search-fails#latest The message you are seeing doesn't mean there are no results. It just means you have to try harder to convince the system to let you see those results. And @N Tychonievich if you could convince some to change that error message, we would all be happier.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile Ah, to have such power. I'm afraid I have exactly zero clout with the developers. But folks who do have clout are aware of the problem and I imagine they are working to get some things changed.

Hello Aine & N Tychonievich,
Thank you for answering.
Unfortunately, the issue has now escalated to my not being able to get any results for any search. I get the screen I posted earlier. I noted that the amount of "script" that is present on the site has gone up dramatically. I use something called "NoScript" to help to protect my privacy online, but even after I allowed this new script, I still don't get any results. I can still use the tree & browse databases, it's just the search page that's not working.
Aine, please review the initial post. The link to the other discussion, is not related to my issue.
Of course, I've deleted the cache & cookies, etc.... but I only use one browser, Firefox, as I've done for years, & it's not been a problem on Family Search.
What changes have occurred on the search page in the past a week or to that could have now caused a complete lack of results?
Thanks,
Steven

I think you sill find there is indeed a connection between the two threads.
