How do I add children of a couple in Family Tree

I've had this problem before. It seems I'm in a newer version of FT, that requires the ID of a child that needs to be added. It doesn't allow me to proceed. I want the older version which allowed me to enter each child's name, and then create them as a person or link him/her to an existing person in FT. This is VERY FRUSTRATING!! Thank you.

    Nothing has changed.

    To add a child to an existing family just click the Add Child link then use the add by Name tab:

    To add an unconnected person, you still just go to the bottom of the Recents list:
