Please continue Relatives at RootsTech = I JUST discovered this
Don't recall getting any info that seemed like something I could do = I couldn't travel to Roots Tech and assumed I would have to so didn't review earlier emails enough [my fault, but I get so many so if it's not clear in subject line I don't go much further] - I just on 5/21 discovered it and it is set to die on 6/1?? Why die because it's basically all computerization and technology - not people pulling info together == we who are members are pulling the info together and the great tool of Relatives at RT makes sense of it all == thanks.

I agree. Make it permanent! Rebrand as FamilySearch Connect per the link https://www.familysearch.org/connect/

I too, just discovered this yesterday, and now it's expiring too soon! It is absolutely incredible! Where and how can I add my vote to the others who want to make this a permanent feature in Family Search or on the RootsTech page? Thank you!

There is no reason to make this feature permanent because it comes back every year with a new set of relatives. It is a tool that targets those who registered for RootsTech, either online or in person, so it will be here again when the registration opens up for the 2024 RootsTech. Because this feature uses every possible kind of relationship offered in FamilySearch, it is not nearly as valuable as you think. Two of the top 3 people in my list are actually not related to me at all, they are descended from guardians who raised one of my great grandmothers. It's accuracy depends on the accuracy of the world tree itself, and there are so many complaints about that I can't imagine this feature would be that useful to most people. Personally, I have found many 3rd, 4th and 5th cousins by contacting contributors to important ancestors of mine. We have shared a lot of information and now have a private Facebook page. Wading through tens of thousands of names is not very effective.
Perhaps you should ask that it be extended until September? Six months should be enough time for anyone.

You may be right, Gail. = but I did not register for RootsTech = which is why I didn't understand the email I got from FamilySearch-RootsTech and then found this -- too late!! I do like the idea of the 6 month extension -= and, maybe I was more fortunate because the relationship charts helped me a lot -- especially in visualizing them. There are times I just don't understand relationships sometimes = graphics help.

@VictoriaJZ Ok, I think they might have been sending emails out for some sort of publicity. I did register for Rootstech and just got an email reminding me I could buy goodies from the vendors who sponsored RootsTech. LOL. I looked through the shopping list, but nothing jumped out. They are closing loose ends for this year, I suspect, and paving the way for you to have more interest in registering for Rootstech next year.
Did you know you can look at relationships with this same graphic for anyone in FamilySearch unless they have the share relationship feature turned off, and then it won't work in the Rootstech thing either.

Thanks for the explanation = I didn't really think about the FS relationship graphic = but then I'm a bit behind my work in genealogy in general = but now that I know more about FS I'll try to use it too. Much appreciated

Last year they made RootsTech Connect a two-week experience. Two years ago it was so popular they had to shut it down because it sucked up all the bandwidth. Pent up demand to contact living relatives - who happen to "also" be doing genealogy research. This year, they extended it out to a "full month" after RootsTech. That has been a blessing.
FamilySearch Messaging, not so much. I get blank screens when I click "all". Sometimes going to a different browser helps, so the messages can be seen and scrolled. Sometimes not. I would say get FamilySearch Messaging robust, so it can handle RootsTech Connect - and then extend RootsTech Connect out and refresh when the live version rolls around. I prefer to see it "on" than " off".
