How to interpret the sponsors relationship

This 1747 christening record from Alswede, Germany gives the surname of the father, "Heddermans", of Vehlage (a small village). It gives the child's name, Dorothea Agnese followed by the Sponsor description, "filia Rottgers". I would interpret that as "daughter Rottgers". However, I don't really understand what relationship the priest it trying to convey. Can you help me with that?

Thanks so much!
