How to correct someone's well intentioned but incorrect use of the Tree?

There is a user who I believe is well intentioned, but has created what can only be described as a mess.

For reference, please look at the person name "MAIERÁ", PIN G7ZQ-LVX.

This is clearly not the way the Family Tree is supposed to be used. What can be done?

    I agree - this is not the intended use of Family Tree. It will be up to FamilySearch to decide what action to take. Families with ancestors/relations from the area can basically continue doing what they are doing - dismantle his registry/directory to the point he will question whether his course should continue to be pursued or FamilySearch could step in educating him as to the proper/intended use.

    The user appears to be aware that creating a place family registry/directory is not the intended use - but attempts to explain this use in the referenced fictitious Brief Life History (which is not the intended use of Brief Life History). It appears other users are already removing this fictitious relationship (thereby making his tree idea non-functional).

    In my opinion he does have a good idea for genealogists specializing in particular places - but FamilySearch Family Tree does not implement this type of family registry/directory for places (though they could if they wanted to in the future). He could publish his findings in such a directory on another platform/solution. I do believe he is mistaken to attempt to do so in Family Tree. I do not understand how such use could be mistakenly attempted.

    It seems to me that the user just created a directory of end of line descendants of the Mayan family. I've removed the relationships.

    I think the user could have used the Add Other Relationships then selected Lineage Gap relationship. They also could have used the Follow feature on a person page and on https://www.familysearch.org/tree/following/ selected "People I'm Following", "Add Label", then "End of Line".

    Just an opinion, but because I know we're related to Noah and Adam somewhere on the tree, doesn't mean I should add the relationship for every end of line relative I find.

    Hmm, I thought it was a place directory - here is his description from Brief Life History:

    "To facilitate the study and relationship of the families that lived in Maierá, I group them as children of the fictitious person called "Famiglie COGNOME:::" and all of these in turn are grouped as children of the fictitious person called "MAIERA".

    In this way you can easily access the different families with the same surname that appear in the registries of the comune"

    I must have missed the part that they were all end-of-line descendants of the same family? But yep, he sure could have just created a directory by following and labeling however he might wish. But he doesn't seem to grasp or at least practice the purpose behind person pages - rather contorts it into something it wasn't designed for.

    @FrancesEddy

    If you are referring to your grandmother's Family Tree page you can make the adjustments yourself. (Click on the "pencil" icon and amend / delete data and comments, as appropriate.) You can also click on the name of the person(s) making these errors and send them a polite, internal message pointing out their mistakes. If you require further advice you will need to return here and provide more details of your family (ID numbers, etc.), so a more experienced user can provide more direct assistance.
