Pointless?

I guess I do not understand how this works or I'm thick maybe... For the person I am looking for there is only name and birth year... How does information get updated here - solely by family updating? Thanks

Are you searching in Historical Records or in the Family Tree?

The Tree is created by everyone together adding the information we know or can learn by searching in Historical Records here on FamilySearch or on other sites or by visiting archives.

If your person of interest has little information - just a name and birth year - then you have the opportunity to build a strong profile for him or her, by looking for records and attaching them.

Thanks. I have name and dates of birth and death... but no records are coming up. So I have to find the records to attach? That's the part I guess I don't understand.

I hope you can watch one of the classes. We're happy to help here, but one of the classes will give you a basic understanding of how the website works.
