Number of pages in search results greatly exceeds the number of actual results

The below image shows the results of a search that returns 2 records. The number of pages goes up to 245. Each page after page 1 is blank. I cleared the browser history and cache to see if this would resolve this issue, but it did not. This does not cause any functional issues as far as I can tell. I get the same results whether in Chrome or Edge.

How did you format your search, please? We see your results, but knowing your search parameters can be very useful in understanding how those results were returned.

Oy, it's doing it to me, too. 9 results, 45 pages. This is a new glitch; I don't recall it happening yesterday.

I am experiencing this at 1315 BST. In my example, 47 results, but 49 pages (of 100 records) being indicated on the first page. However, beyond page 1 the pages are blank.

Hopefully, a moderator has passed this on to the team that can rectify.

I did not see it last night (East Coast USA) or this morning. That's why I asked how the search was formulated. I tend to start my searches either from a relatively small place (a US state or a single European country) or a specific collection (Ireland Civil Registration or NYC Municipal Deaths).

@Áine Ní Donnghaile, what do you see at my linked search results page?

I don't think this has anything to do with what you're searching or where you're starting from. From my observation, the page counter has frozen at 49 (not 45, I typoed it above), and that's what it says, no matter what's actually going on with the search.

For example, I clicked the magnifying glass to search film 4639031; it apparently has 19,233 index entries associated with it (https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=100&q.filmNumber=4639031). The bottom of the search results says 49 pages of 100 results each.

The same search filtered to 1740s births has 59 results (https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=100&q.filmNumber=4639031&c.birthLikeDate1=on&f.birthLikeDate0=1700&f.birthLikeDate1=1700~1740); it still says 49 pages of 100 results each.

This old Search bug occurred just after current Search replaced old Search. I see we are back to the same old issue.

The filtered search now says page 1 of 1, but the unfiltered search still somehow squashes 19,233 results onto 49 pages of 100.

(I have no idea whether that's new behavior or not, and am not worried about it, given that one doesn't deal with thousands of results by paging through them, but by narrowing them down somehow.)
