Horrifically bad stock examples in Record hint dismissal dialog
Here's the dialog. (I know it's not new, but I rarely encountered it until the floating dialog was removed, now it's the only option.)
Names/Places/Dates/Relatives don't match, fine.
"I can't tell if it is a match." THEN DON'T DISMISS IT. Don't hide it from other editors who can figure out if it's a match or not. Dismissing should only happen if an editor is sure the suggestion is wrong, and that nobody else needs to see it because it definitely doesn't doesn't belong to that person. Maybe an option to hide it from individual users is needed, but they definitely shouldn't be hiding them globally if they're just not sure.
"This source is a duplicate." Then it definitely SHOULD be attached. Yes, duplicate records are a problem, but they need to be solved a different way. Leaving the record unattached increases the chance it'll erroneously be attached to the wrong person, and information will be added that triggers the system to incorrectly suggest a merge.
"Name is too common." This is just a variation on "I can't tell if it's a match." It's not a valid excuse to dismiss what could be a correct record.
