Incomplete source links in multiple places
I keep running into a problem with links on FS and it is driving me crazy!
"United States Census, 1930," database with images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XMLR-65T : accessed 27 March 2023), Dolly Goswick in household of Rosco C Langston, Luxora, Mississippi, Arkansas, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) ED 20, sheet 8A, line 9, family 180, NARA microfilm publication T626 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 2002), roll 85; FHL microfilm 2,339,820.
This one is as it should be. I can use it and then access it later via the link. I really, really like that all of the information is in this citation, so even if I don't have access to the internet, I could look this up with what is provided.
Then there is this one:
Web Page (Link to the Record)
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MS8G-DW4
Where The Record Is Found (Citation)
"United States Census, 1900", database with images, FamilySearch (ark:/61903/1:1:MS8G-DW3 : Fri Mar 10 19:19:32 UTC 2023), Entry for Wm. E Gaswick and Dallie Gaswick, 1900.
Notice three things:
1. the first one is a real link, and points to Dollie Gaswick.
2. the second one is an incomplete link
3. the second one points to William E Gaswick
Web Page (Link to the Record)
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6XBX-GJ4K
Where The Record Is Found (Citation)
"United States 1950 Census", database, FamilySearch (ark:/61903/1:1:6XBX-GJ42 : Fri Mar 24 21:29:53 UTC 2023), Entry for R C Langston and Dollie Goswick, 10 April 1950.
Again notice three things:
1. the first one is a real link, and points to Dollie Goswick (I am not concerned with variations in spellings.)
2. the second link is incomplete
3. the second link, if it were complete, points to R.C. Langston
I have run into this problem over and over recently. I only just caught that the second link, when once complete, may not point to the person I am sourcing. Initially, I thought it was mostly the newer census results that had been tabulated incorrectly. But I believe I have seen it with other sorts of sources. I was told it might be a bug.
I hope you can find this problem and fix it. It is problematic when I am trying to point someone to a specific place where they can look.
Thank you.
Rae

I think you may need to take screenshots, because I'm clearly not seeing what you're seeing: all three of those links are perfectly fine for me, going to the 1900, 1930, and 1950 U.S. Census index entries for Dollie Goswick.

Looking at the sources attached to profile G96C-19B, several are from Ancestry rather than from FamilySearch, but they all display as Dollie for me.

For your Ancestry linked records
1. Click the ancestry link for the record and open the page on Ancestry
2. At the top of the page there is a share button. Click it.
3. Pop up opens. Click the blue copy link button.
4. Once it's copied to your clipboard, open your sources for the person in FS
5. Where it says the URL for the record, highlight what is there and past the link on your clipboard.
6. Fill in the title if needed
7. Save
Now you can open Ancestry information.

This is the problem

Today I found this one. Both of the links match in this case, but there is still an incomplete link, so when I "copy citation" I get something that does not lead anywhere and one has to go digging in order to get to the cite to see what the source is.

So when I "copy citation" this is what the source looks like - note the arrow
This is not a usable citations. What is supposed to be a link is incomplete and a real pain to work with. Furthermore, this is happening in multiple places.
So, bottom line, two problems.
- Incomplete link in source citations
- Links, when they are complete, will not necessarily match

There is something really wrong. I am looking at older citations I have used before and the "copy citations" are all like this, INCOMPLETE! I think there is some sort of bug in the system

The https://www.familysearch.org/ is missing from many, many citations
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MS8G-DW4 is written as ark:/61903/1:1:MS8G-DW3 which will point to the Dollie's husband William when it is completed.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XHL7-KHV is written only as ark:/61903/1:1:XHL7-KHV in the source citation which goes nowhere

Well, that explains my confusion: I've never used any of FS's auto-generated so-called citations, because they're inevitably full of nonsense (such as "Archiv der Stadt Budapest (Archive of the City), Hungary" -- why on earth is it in German?) and are also inevitably missing key information (such as the town or denomination). I write my own citations whenever I can.
I agree that there seems to be something even more wrong than usual with the automatic citation-generator on these U.S. Census indexes.

Is there any information on how and when this issue is being dealt with and how long it will be before the links are complete? ark:/61903/1:1:XHL7-KHV - this link goes nowhere
