Error in a record
A death certificate record for my great grandmother, Margaret Bowles, is incorrect and edits are not allowed. I went to the original Seattle death certificate, film 007600507, image 524, Record 1513, Registered 1581. This copy of the original death certificate shows "University Undertaker Parlor" and "cremation".
My great grandmother, her husband, and my grand parents are all in the crematorium at Evergreen Washelli funeral home on Aurora Avenue north of Seattle. I have visited the crematorium and have purchased a space for my ashes and my spouse's ashes. I am 100 percent certain that my great grandmother is at Evergreen Washelli Funeral home in Seattle.
The record description attached to Margaret Bowles states that she is buried in Oregon-
"Death or Burial Place Albany, Benton, Oregon, United States
Death or Burial Place (Original)Albany, Oregon, United States"
This must be an indexing error, because the document on the film (image 524) does not list a death or burial place of Albany, Benton, Oregon, United States. It does list an undertaker in the University District of Seattle. This supports the fact that Margaret is not buried in Oregon. The record does not allow an edit of this information.
I will change the place of burial on Margaret's Family Search page, but the record description is incorrect and does not allow edits. Is it possible to have someone review this and make the correction?
Thank you

@N Tychonievich Sounds as if the placename standardization algorithm is at work again.

@Oaktree43 This is not a standardization error, but an error made during indexing. We can tell that is the case since both of the "places" show as Oregon. Since the collection is not currently editable, you have a couple of things you can do to help decrease the likelihood that other users will be confused by the inaccurate place. When you are in the source linker, you have an option to add places to the Tree profile from the record. If you click to add the place, you can edit it there in source linker. That will keep the correct place showing in the Tree profile. Additionally, it is a good practice to add a note about the indexing error in your "reason to attach" message.
