Looking for Colonial census/ Church dispensation records - Usulutan, El Salvador

A user on another site had detailed information on distant relatives in the Usulutan department of El Salvador.

He wrote:

"A lot of my research came from family search documents. I focused on Algeria, but whenever there was a cousin marriage; I looked for the church dispensation showing how related they were. I also have the colonial census records that detailed Spaniards in Usulutan, and it included the cotton info. I have all the sources saved on family search."

I asked him several times to point me in the right direction but no reponse from him. I found his account on familysearch but he never attached sources to the accounts.

I only found the census for Tecapa (now called Alegria) for 1813. I did found several distant relatives in the ranches of Tecapa. Padrones (familysearch.org)

Does anyone have any idea where I can find more information?

Thank you,

-Manrique

Check the catalog. On a quick search, I see parochial registers and civil registers for Usulatán. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=182334&query=%2Bplace%3A%22El%20Salvador%2C%20Usulut%C3%A1n%2C%20Usulut%C3%A1n%22%20%2Bkeywords%3Ausulutan&subjectsOpen=567617-50,455914-50

Thanks. I think those records are from the city of Usulutan. The department is also called Usulutan.

Here are some colonial records. I looked over many documents. The census records are out of order as well. I wonder if some colonial records were removed recently or in the wrong section.

As Áine says, check the catalog. It doesn't list anything specifically for the department, but has a couple dozen places within it,

and there are also many things listed under the country as a whole that likely cover the area of interest.

Also check the Images search, which has many records for El Salvador.
