After using the old FamilySearch Catalog for years and admiring it for the precision of search results, I am truly disappointed in the new FamilySearch Library Catalog which appears to be similar to catalogs used by public libraries that are horribly imprecise. I did a keyword search for California 1950 census and retrieved 2 results that were absolutely of no relevance. I assume that the software for the new FamilySearch Library Catalog has been purchased from a commercial vendor because it looks so much like so many public library catalogs. I regret that FamilySearch has abandoned an in-house designed catalog that provided excellent search results for a highly specialized collection. My disappointment is intensified because I have long thought that the Family History Library now rebranded FamilySearch Library was one of the best run and most innovative libraries in the world. Perhaps not so much now.

They have not yet added it to the catalog system, apparently, possibly because they have not finished transcribing it. Go here and do your person search. United States Census, 1950 • FamilySearch.
