With a birth year in the 1920s, you are researching modern records. Many records from the last 100 years are not yet online for reasons of privacy for those who may still be living.

That’s would be great if he is still alive I would like that very much but unless my family lied to me and said he dead just before I was born I believe them hence the reason why I am digging and hard at that my aunt Elizabeth died in 2012 and my dad Lionel in the year 2000 so if my granddad is alive it would be amazing

I don't think that Áine was suggesting that he IS still alive, but that the records of anyone born around that time may be restricted because there's a possibility that they MIGHT still be alive.

Different records are restricted for different periods in different places. Where I'm from birth and census records are not available for 100 years, marriage records for 75 years and even death records for 50 years.

If you know, or can make an educated guess, where he was born and died you could find out whether those records are available. Even if the official records are not public there are other possibilities, such as newspaper announcements.

Colin is correct. I did not suggest the grandfather is or even might be alive.

You haven't mentioned a location. There are groups here and on other platforms where people assist in research in specific locations.

You are totally correct in saying Àine I did not include the place or location where he got married it was in cape Province in cape town South Africa it was known to be called Cape Province before 1994 and after 1994 it called Cape Town so there is a little history of the Cape Town lol
