@LaurieSomes I think you're right, these are baptisms with parents, witnesses and baptism dates on the right hand side of the page --the numbers on the left, ie 1701 are entry numbers. I don't know where the indexer got the Dec 15th & place of baptism info unless its on a reference page that I can't see on a shared batch.

Oh thank you. I wonder if I should leave them as marked or correct them with "blank"

I would correct the birth dates to baptism dates and <blank> the birthdates - seldom would an infant be baptized the day he/she was born unless the baby was too frail to survive. Thanks for sharing this batch. Oh, and blank the baptism place unless the PI say otherwise 😎

On the right side, geb is the date of birth. Geb is the abbreviation for geboren which is Dutch for born.
The baptism date and year must be on a previous reference image since they are all the same Dec 15 1861 in Oudtshoorn. If that can't be found in the reference images, those fields would definitely be marked blank. Sometimes folks like to do a little personal research and fill in the blanks, but, if it isn't on the image it shouldn't be indexed.

@LaurieSomes I looked again after reading Melissa's comment ---those birthdates are correct and Dec 15 is the baptism date as indexed. I was wrong about correcting things Sorry
