How do I merge information from old records with a person already existing?

Hello Howard. I'm not sure I understand your question right, so I'll answer it two ways. If you found information in a census that is not on your father's profile, simply go to the details tab next to the "About" tab and edit in the new information by clicking on the little pencil icon but be sure to write an explanation for each edit and source it.
Now if you found a completely different profile that has been made by the Census Tree Community for example and want to merge that profile with the profile you already created you again go to the detail tab and at the bottom right hand you will see a box that says "Tools". The fifth option down is "Merge by ID". You first have to copy the 7 digit code of the profile you want to get rid of. Then you go to the profile you want to keep and click on that merge by ID option. Then simply type in the ID number that you copied or paste it in. Merging profiles can be reversed if they are not cited and sourced so be sure to explain the merger so it's not reversed. I have been doing a lot of mergers recently because there are profiles made by volunteers by accident for the same person for the 1910, 1920, 1930, ect census just because one letter was off, ect. Good luck.
