books that won't open
There are some books from the Evangelical Reformation Church in Lithuania that can't be opened and read. We were told it is because someone placed a 1940 entry in the books and it hasn't been 100 years yet. That's not fair to us that are trying to get information on our families. The books are as follows:
Births 1880-1883 Confirmations 1880-1885 Marriages 1880-1882 Deaths 1880-1882 Confirmations 1880-1913
International Bl, Floor Film, 1924366, item 2, 4220149
Births, deaths, conformations, marriages 1865-1871 Births, confirmations, marriages 1871-1880 Deaths 1872-1873
International Bl, Floor film, 1924366, item 4, 4220149
How can this situation be resolved please???? We are desperate!!!
Thanks

DGS 4220149 is not available online, probably for reasons of privacy, because it contains records that are less than 100 years old.

FamilySearch determines access on a whole-film basis ("all or nothing"). Given the vast size of their holdings, this is unsurprising, but as you've experienced, it can get rather ...infuriating.
I seem to recall vague hints that they're working on separating image groups to allow greater access, possibly via the Images section, but I have so far not seen any results of such efforts.
Without an index to give you image numbers or other details, I'm not sure the Family History Library's Lookup Service can be of any help in this, but perhaps it would be worth asking them if they can recommend an alternative. When phrasing your question, use "film" or "image group" -- filmed/digitized historical records like this are not referred to as "books" in FS parlance.
