Merging causes all sorts of problems! ID LCXG-H7P needs some very experienced help!

I've just recently found that someone (more than one someone) has merged individuals that were rather obvious (in my opinion by birthdates) not the same people.

I've had a stroke so can't think fast enough to untangle (it was hard enough BEFORE my stroke) because once merged, even if restored/unmerged, the children and the sources stay connected. SO it is very difficult to come along and determine which children and sources belong where.

At present a third great grandmother of mine has multiple husbands and over 20 something children. . . I've given up on her. Maybe someday someone will untangle her mess.

BUT I did just find another error. I was able to reverse a merge to the wrong "Sarah" as it was evident that one born in 1825 is not the same as the one born in 1842 . . . also the merging gave younger Sarah a child born when she was 8 and far before Andrew's first wife died and Sarah married him.

I unmerged (knowing the younger 1942 Sarah quite well) BUT of course the other Sarah is still connected to the same husband . . . because (my guess) is that he too was incorrectly merged.

Two couples could in fact have the same first and last names - we need to be so careful . . . Anyway! I can't untangle it. I don't have the brain power.

Andrew Morehouse does have a good source of information and I know that with his first wife Phebe he had 10-11 children (different texts/genealogy books say both) referred to in his "life sketch" and also in the life sketch of his son David WHO it is very clear was his "youngest son" so all these extra sons after David must belong to another Andrew Morehouse.

I shouldn't care so much and truly care more about my own 3rd great grandmother's mess, but at least Andrew has written records that are there to help untangle him from the presumed other Andrew. (and/or figure out where 1825 Sarah and her son belong).

"My" Sarah is the 1842 Sarah. I actually have a letter written by her in 1787 in my possession. She's a second wife to Andrew.

Please could someone help untangle what mess there is there? IF you are up to it I'll share my 3rd great grandmother's mess (from someone clicking merge or attaching sources far too quickly). I had a friend working on it, but she too had a stroke.

Here is Andrew (who I suspect is 2 Andrews merged) LCXG-H7P who needs some help. David is known and confirmed as his youngest son (in the book that someone has copied from on his Andrew's life sketch). He and Phebe did not have 20 children. Sarah b 1842 is an accurate 2nd wife. I have a letter from her to her mother talking about her little girl Jane. I also have a Sherrill genealogy book that discusses her marriage to Andrew so I do feel confident (though the book indicates because of her age it might have been her first cousin also named Sarah who was his wife. BUT the letter I have indicates otherwise.

I hope someone experienced can untangle this mess. Family history is great, but oh the tears I have shed because people aren't careful and even unmerging does not remove the entire family back to what it was.

I didn't know where else to put this! I wanted to report it. I just couldn't find where to do so!

I will help you untangle this. Andrew Morehouse, Sr LCXG-H7P, right? Let me look at it and I'll get back with you if I have any questions about which source or family member belongs with which guy.

Ok, I have some thoughts on this family. First, I looked up the booklet, The Descendants of Col. Andrew Morehouse and John Langdon. I see where you are getting the basis of your information from that.

While going through the record I see that the children Ann Morehouse GQSX-1GQ, John Morehouse GQSX-YN2, John Morehouse GQSF-9TK and Polly Morehouse GQSX-BG3 were all created on 4 Jan 2020 by Willden Kevin Dee. You would probably want to message him to ask him why he added them. There are no sources for any of them and nothing that indicates why he created them. We could probably remove them from the family, but we would need to create a new Andrew Morehouse to be their father and the chance of them getting merged again is pretty high. It would be best to talk to Willden first to see his reasoning.

Aaron Morehouse KC22-K58 b. 1756 according to every other record that I can find on Aaron Morehouse he is either the son of Abijah Morehouse or unknown parentage. No one else has him as a son of Andrew Morehouse and Phoebe Hurd. I think we could detach him without any issues.

Aaron Morehouse K6M3-QZP is sometimes confused with the other Aaron Morehouse KC22-K58. Folks have him either as Abijah's son or no parents. I think we could detach him without any issues.

Isaac Morehouse KCFZ-4QM was originally listed as the son of Elisha Morehouse. That relationship comes from a NEHGR article talking about the probable sons of that Elisha Morehouse. That fits with an additional reference that his brother Stephen joined the Revolutionary War with him and their names are found together on the roll. As you can see there is no Stephen in this family. However, there is one document from a Casterline who appears to be a great-great-grandson of Isaac Morehouse. In this document (it looks like it is a handwritten copy of a Sons of American Revolution application) he claims that his great-great-grandfather Isaac Morehouse is the son of Andrew a 'Colonel of a Duches county Reg't also a member of the first two sessions of NY State Assembly 1777-1778'. I think this record is the basis for Gordon Houtman's change from Elisha Morehouse as his father to Andrew Morehouse Sr. I think there is a good case for this to be changed back to Elisha as his father, we'd need to make a good reason statement for it though.

Ronald Morehouse G8BX-8PR was created and added to the family by TravisRigg on 29 Oct 2021. He has no sources attached and no explanation of why he was added. I'd recommend messaging TravisRigg to ask him about this child.

All the other children seem to fall in line with what Leete claims in his booklet. What would you like to do with these comments? Are you comfortable enough that you can message TravisRigg and Willden Kevin Dee about their additional children?
