What is the challenge or roadblock you are encountering? Process of Hints is cumbersome
When I complete a hint and click Return to Record, the record screen returns to the record in new format. I've already seen it, I want to return to my Tree to continue.
Please note a problem below in the image: A new person is in the place of "Attached in Family Tree To". For John Daniel's daughter Mary's birth record, it shows a new person, Richard Daniel? Who is he? Why a new individual? I'm working with several hints and possible records for John Daniels, adding another person becomes confusing. I don't understand why that happened!
On this same record page, I would like to know where I can click to return to John Daniel? I don't see a link. If I click on Mary to return to her Person page, I get the same record from Mary's point of view, no directional link to Person page, again! It seems that there is no direct way to return to John Daniels' or Mary Daniel's Person pages without knowing PIDs or going back to my Homepage and starting all over from my Recommended Tasks or my Current list. That's a lot of clicks to get to the family person I'm working on.
Suggestions: I wish that Hints was more streamlined to the person page.
I would love to be able to click on Recommended Tasks and go right to the individual's Person page, not the record. I can access the record hint from the Person page and review Hints while looking at the vital information, too. Presently, the system only takes me to the record. That is not optimizing the program's data, and I have to backstep in order to access vital information to compare and make sure I have the same people.
When I complete a Hint, I'd like to be able to return to the Person page to do the next hint. As is, I'm returned to the record again and so have to return to my dashboard.
Thank you for your time and for wanting to help make FamilySearch even better. I do appreciate all that the directors, designers, programmers and others are doing to facilitate this Miracle. glenna lewis
When you review Mary Daniel's profile: K8FH-ZJ5 - the Latest Changes show that a Merge occurred 6 Sept 2017 - due to some Record Hints - which changed the father from being John K641-8VF to Richard L5K6-MG5. then a BIOLOGICAL parent child relationship was established. Then on 6 Dec 2021Richard L5K6-MG5 became Richard GD34-PHN due to a Merge - and the BIOLOGICAL parent-child relationship attached. Then a Merge Mary L19L-X2Y and Mary K8FH-ZJ5 occurred - then the baptism Custom Event and Birth/Christening Events and Source were linked into the Current Mary K8FH-ZJ5.
If that's confusing - it's because there were several merges that occurred to reach the current morphed state of Mary - whose intended identity started in 2012 as :
Mary Daniel 1803–Deceased • K8FH-ZJ5 - daughter of John Daniel1766–Deceased •K641-8VF and Mary Whittamore 1768–Deceased • K8SH-KKP
As typical of what I have seen - everything was fine until a Record Hint suggested that Richard was the father instead of John - something that someone took as FamilySearch permission to change the previously attached father John. If you look at Richard's Sources you do indeed find the record of Mary's christening attached - by FamilySearch in 2014 - so it is a bit of a puzzle - and I believe that Source needs to be removed/detached. Additionally unless profiles are actively reviewed - notice how these changes occurred over 4 years and no one has really taken the time to review/cleanup the problems/issues - these problems can propagate others.
On this same record page, I would like to know where I can click to return to John Daniel?
Under the Similar Records heading (right-hand column any of those John Daniel you can click on, get the person card and select Tree or Person (which ever you would prefer).
As for your Idea for Record Hints to take you to the Person Page/Research Help>Record Hints rather than the Record itself - that certainly could be an option for FamilySearch to consider - but either way you can open multiple tabs (Person Page on one tab and Research Help>Record Hints on another, the Record on yet another - to arrive at a view of them all).1
