Changing wrongly transcribed documents
Is there a way to make changes on a wrongly transcribed document or at least notify FS that there is an error? You can do this on Ancestry. Recently a document from a parish register in Scotland listed the father as John Mackie Kilconquhar. The parish record says "John Mackie Kilconquhar" but Kilconquhar is the name of the place, not his last name. The scribe for the parish records didn't use commas but the transcriber should have noticed that the record was from Kilconquhar parish and that other records on the page showed where the parents were residing at the time of their child's baptism. It will just confuse things if someone comes along and reads the transcript and then makes changes to the person's record based on the wrong transcription.

You can edit the transcription of many records if the image is available on FamilySearch. If the image is not available on FS, there is no edit option.
