I see "evora" usually after a woman's name, like Julia Antonia evora, in baptism records from Cabo Verde 1801-1946. It is capitalized as if it were part of the name.

Évora is a fairly common surname in Cape Verde. It is thought to show a connection to that part of Portugal called Évora.
