How do I correct posted information that my indisputable sources show are incorrect? I have a copy of the original document showing a name corrupted because of a typo in the published transcription.

In Family Tree you just click the edit icon and edit it. Always include the source.

In the indexed historical records, if these are editable you click the edit button in the header banner to make the correction. Many collections cannot be edited, however, and those just have to stay the way they are. All the transcribed collections will have a certain percentage of errors. That is why people should never assume a transcription is correct or is the actual source. It is just a way to locate the actual source.

In addition make sure the reason statement for the information that you change clearly states what the correct information is, what the incorrect information in and why you know that it is incorrect. There is also a new Alert Note checkbox on the Notes that, when checked, will put your note in red at the top of the person page. Add the same information and explanation there so it will be seen by everyone who comes to that individual's page.

I would like to add and also correct my family information. It’s stated that my brother was born in 1960 and is deceased. I have a brother who died in 1960 but it’s NOT the one that is listed. I have another brother who was born in 1962 and while he is dead to me he is still very much alive. I would like to know who entered this information because they obviously do not have the correct info!

You see who added the information by going to the Change Log and looking at all the contributors. If only one person has added all the information, then that person can change the brother who is marked deceased to living. If more than one person has added information, then you have to click the editing icon, click Living, fill out the form that will pop up, give your evidence that he is still alive, then give FamilySearch several days to make the correction. Family Tree is fully editable otherwise and you can make all needed corrections by clicking on the pencil icons next to each piece of information.
