Found a lot of pages that are indexed incorrectly...for location..

Not sure who to report it to? This whole section is filed under the incorrect town/city. It should be under

Hostotipaquillo, Jalisco, México

however,

it is under Huejuquilla el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico...

Most of the entries of this partial section have the wrong town.... I fixed one or two, but the whole section is discombobulated....I do not know how, nor who it should be reported to......

    You will probably want to cite a record to which you are referring (include a URI/URL in your report) - but your report/Idea here is a good first step.

    If you post your Idea as a Search category question rather than an Idea (since it sounds like you are referring to published, indexed records) - it allows Community to flag it for MODerator review. They are the ones that can receive your report and notify you that it is being looked into. I don't recall seeing much MODerator interaction in Ideas.

    Do these records show 2 locations in the index, one marked "Original"? If that is the case, it is not an indexing problem, but a placename standardization issue.

    The typed name does NOT match the actual place in the old text

    @j c_15,

    It doesn't appear that you've gotten a specific answer to your question. We do not know what record, or collection, you are looking at that is incorrectly indexed.

    If you could provide a link the the record that has the incorrectly indexed location, we will hopefully be able to assist you.

    Thanks for your patience.

    oK.... I found IT. The pages form 628 of 872 THROUGH 668 of 872 are indexed as being in HOSTOTIPAQUILLO JALISCO.

    These happenings were actually in HUEJUQUILLA EL ALTO, JALISCO.....

    BEGINS: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9P2N-Z1F?i=627&cc=1918187

    ENDS: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9P2N-Z5W?i=668&cc=1918187

    How do we get these moved to the correct location?

    There are other issues therein (deaths being listed as marriages and whatnot...), but the main issue is that the folks misplaced.

    I don't know how to get this fixed so they get moved to HUEJUQUILLA EL ALTO, JALISCO. I fixed one person but now it doesn't match it being filed in the wrong location.

    @j c_15,

    If you look at Image 628

    https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9P2N-Z1F?i=627&cc=1918187

    Municipio (Municipality): Hostotipaquillo

    Estado: Jalisco

    That could be where the location information came from.

    I know where it came from. How do we get it fixed?

    @j c_15 From your links, we can see how the place was identified by the film crew when the images were captured. In order to get corrections made to the index, we need the URL for one of the index pages where you see the error. And, will we be able to find the place clearly and correctly stated on the image associated with the index page? We will need to be able to confirm that place on the document.

    For example, here is an indexed record showing the place that you indicate is incorrect: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGWS-4224. I looked at the image associated with this one. Not knowing Spanish, I cannot find where the place is mentioned on the image. Maybe you could grab a screenshot of an image and highlight where the place is mentioned. With that information, we can get this error reported to the group that can work to make corrections.

    Thanks. I understand. I will go get the record that I fixed and even if you don't read Spanish the name difference is quite obvious.

    Ok. I fixed the first entry that is Indexed within this list of pages. Attached is the webpage address and an image.

    As you can see the name is quite different--- Huejuquilla el Alto, Jalisco has 3-three words to it's name and Hostotipaquillo, Jalisco is a location with a single-word name. Also attached related image.

    @j c_15 and @Maile L Thank you both. I will get this reported to the group that is working on correcting badly identified places in the record collections. Don't expect a quick fix as they have a considerable back log.

    I don't know why this post was entered? BOTH of those entries are supposed to be under the LOCATION of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico. I'll fix some as I remember but it must be thousands
