How do I record a baptism?

A baby baptism or christening should be recorded in the 'christening' information on the Person page in Family Tree. A baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would be added from church membership records. We cannot add any ordinances directly to FamilySearch Family Tree.

To add a baptism record to a person in familysearch family tree, just click on the “person” tab then choose “other”, you will get a list of options,I think one is baptism, if not, just choose “create your own”

Just to put things int perspective ...

The following relates to "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" ...
.
As it appears in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", the use of the 'term' of "Christening" is 'synonymous' with the 'term' of "Baptism", although they can have slightly different meanings within the various Religions, for all intensive purposes, in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", they are closely associated with; or, suggestive of, the same event.

In the "FamilySearch" ("GetSatisfaction") 'Feedback' Forum, the distinction between the use of the 'term' of "Christening"; and, the use of the 'term' of "Baptism", has been discussed at length - to-date there is NO consensus on the matter ...
.
Do not get 'hung up' on the matter ...

In the "Vitals" Section of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch"; IF, a User/Patron is 'concerned' with the 'term' of "Christening"; as opposed to, the 'term' of "Baptism"; THEN, may I suggest that such a User/Patron 'Prefaces' the 'Date' field with the word of "Baptism" followed by a "Comma" and the actual 'Date' - is CAN still be "Standardised", even with the words included.

For example, for some Users/Patrons, who were concerned, I have suggested the words of "Roman Catholic, Baptism" (or, just "Catholic, Baptism") - the choice is endless.

But ...
That said ...

In the "Other Information" Section there IS the (Generic) "Event" of "Baptism" that can be used, if one so desires.

NOTHING is 'set in concrete', everything is very fluid ...

But, remember, whatever you input, can be "Changed", at any time, by another User/Patron, if they so desire.

Do not sweat it ...

Whatever suits you, that is all that matters ...

And, as for (Deceased) Members of the Church that were NOT involved with any Other Religion; THEN, like i have previously suggested, you could use the "Christening" field/record, in the "Vitals" Section, of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", for that of their "Naming and Blessing" - just 'Preface' the 'Date' with the words of "Naming and Blessing" [or, "Naming and Blessing (LDS)"], if one so desires.

As to "Living" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" ...

Well, in fact, you can do exactly the SAME ...

The choice is yours ...

Remember, for Members of the Church, as 'Anne' responded, the actual Work, both, for the "Living"; and, the for the Dead, is ALREADY recorded on Church Membership Records. For the "Deceased" Members of the Church, we have the added bonus of the "Ordinances" 'Tab', that displays the state of affairs.
