Correcting indexing errors
How can I report an indexing problem? This is NOT regarding any of the fields that allow suggested corrections.
FamilySearch has a ship's passenger list that was entirely indexed as being part of the ship who's manifest immediately preceeded this one on the film, i.e., the previous name was carried over and the new ship's name never recorded. I would dearly like to get this fixed.

Hi @Evie Rice. Can you please give me some info about the error?
1- I need to know the exact location where I can see the record, maybe a link or film # with a specific image #
2- I need to know what is incorrect, in this case ship A was indexed as part of ship B's manifest
Thanks. Maile 🙂

Beginning on this page:
FS has indexed everyone on this page + the next page as being on the ship Rosella. Rosella was the ship list immediately preceding this one. Everyone on these 2 pages were actually on the ship (a Bark) N.W. Stevens.
Is this enough information to proceed with?

@Evie Rice That is great. Thanks for the info. I will see who I can pass this on to.

Hi @Evie Rice. I wanted you to know that closed indexing projects are not reopened to correct errors. You can still attach the images to people in the Tree with a note about the error and the correct ship name.
FamilySearch is working towards allowing users to improve record data. (See this comment.) Hopefully this is something that can be rectified in the future.

This is very unfortunate. I realize that I can still attach records, but the data from the index is what people will see and, in this case, believe that these people immigrated on a completely different ship. And this is the case for the entire ship, not just my family. The index claims that all of them came on the Rosella, when in fact they were on the N.W. Stevens. Many people are going to have misinformation in their family's histories. I hope this policy will change in the future to enable folks to get true information about their ancestors.
