1920 US census, Richmond NY

Richmond, a town historically in Richmond County on Staten Island, and in 1920 a borough of New York City, is indexed in Ontario County in western New York. The record set is 28 pages. I have done only spot checking, but it appears the entire set is indexed into the wrong county.

@dontiknowyou Thank you for reporting the place standardization error in the 1920 census for Richmond, NY. We have confirmed it and will add it to our report of place standardization errors on that US Census.

This is not an indexing error. It is Yet Another Example of the autostandardization in FamilySearch's indexed historical record database.

It appears to be robo-indexed to Ontario County and auto-standardized to NYC. Which is really twisted. Whatever, it is confusing.

The ones I looked at made no mention of Ontario: they were all indexed as "New York, Richmond".
