Many lines in a row with no Mortgagees listed

US, New York, Erie—Indexes to Mortgagees, 1630–1975 [Part A] [MQM2-S76] In this batch, I have a large number of lines with no Mortgagees lists however there are Mortgagors listed for each line. Should I assume that I would use the last Mortgagee listed to fill the line even there is no indication that I should. See Screen shot below.

    At first glance I thought that it might be an implied ditto as you are thinking but after going to your batch and checking over it I don't believe that is the case. The repetitions were all written out.

    I would just follow the following project instruction:

    • If a record does not include a name for the mortgagee, you should still index the record, marking the mortgagee name fields blank and indexing other names, such as names of the mortgagor, along with any other fields that are present on the record. 

    Hope this helps. The researcher will still be directed to William G as he is indexed on the entry above.
