I think you have a bug in the system
If I attempt to add unconnected person, but that person is already in the tree it shows me a possible match. However if I click on the name or click on the blue "View Person" text it does not bring up that person. This issue seems to be specific to the new interface that recently was released.

@Jay Follett I was able to duplicate this issue.
Work-around: Until FamilySearch fixes it copy the Person ID (PID) of the possible match and find that ID
