Research
I have been researching my Jamaican ancestry and have hit a brick wall when researching my second great grandfather. I cannot find a birth certificate for him so that I can try and go back another generation. His name is William Augustus Falconer born around 1881 in St Andrews, Jamaica. His wife was called Marian Elizabeth Campbell born around 1887.
I have a marriage certificate that states that his father was called Richard Falconer but I am unable to find any birth certificate. I was told that civil registration in Jamaica started around 1878ish so there may not be a birth certificate for him. Does anyone know of any other resource or any other way of finding his birth certificate or details of his parents? Thanks for your assistance.

Dear @TessaFerlance ,
At the FS wiki for Jamaica there are many interesting resources, internal and external to FS.
This is a very good starting point, if you don't know yet. Below the link for accessing it.
I hope this can help!

@TessaFerlance I am not connected with Family Search.
You could look at the FIBIS Fibiwiki page West Indies https://wiki.fibis.org/w/West_Indies
- Details of online newspapers of Jamaica from Findmypast (personal not Library users)(pay website), also on British Newspaper Archive (pay website)
- Some publications from Jamaica are available on the pay website NewspaperArchive.com
- If Richard Falconer was employed by the Government his name should appear in the Blue Books for Jamaica which are linked from the Fibiwiki page. This should give occupational but probably not birth details.
