How do I edit a record?

Thank you for the additional information. That record cannot be edited from FamilySearch. Please note that the information you pasted indicates that the index comes from findmypast.com. You may be able to submit an edit on findmypast.com. The Report An Error button is hidden under the "More Actions" button on Find My Past.
And that index has no reference to religion. There may be another record citing a religion, but not that specific index.

I have a record for Ellen Gertrude Evans that does not permit editing - it gives three alternatives as to her spouse one of which I know to be correct because she was my husband's grandmother. How do I delete the erroneous ones and leave just the correct one intact when it does not permit me to edit?

Can you share the PID of the person or the URL of the record, so someone can see exactly what you are seeing, please?

That's part of the URL of the record and part of the date the record was last updated on FamilySearch.
What's the PID of Ellen Gertrude Evans? There are several. That will be 7 characters (letters and numbers) near her name.
For example:

"England and Wales Marriage Registration Index, 1837-2005," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DN3-8K3 : 13 December 2014), Ellen Gertrude Evans, 1909; from "England & Wales Marriages, 1837-2005," database, findmypast (http://www.findmypast.com : 2012); citing 1909, quarter 3, vol. 11A, p. 220, Bedwellty, Monmouthshire, England, General Register Office, Southport, England.
Sorry to be so thick about this but the search results and the view record do not have any numbers by the names, only ones in the citation. Here is the full citation perhaps that will hold the key for you. Thank you for your patience and forebearance, I have never done this before. I have also found an error on what I think to be the number QYDW-TH3Z Bridget Keogh which is a census item and says on the FS record that she is Church of Ireland but on the copy of the record it quite clearly states that she is Church of Rome, although the family she works for are all COI.
