Zimbabwe, Archdiocese of Harare—Church Records, 1897–2021 [Part B] [M3B2-4C1]

I'm not translating the Latin column headings for these children's name successfully. Am I correct that they are first (Nomen Xtianum) and middle (Noman Paganum) names? Since no surnames are specified, am I right to mark them blank rather than to assume they are the fathers' surnames?

    Yes. There is an example in the project instructions for this. The child has a given name and middle name and no surname, as you have described. We don't assume a surname for the child from another person in the record. Researchers will have access to these images through our indexing.

    I have not seen any examples of this is the project instructions and heaven knows I have looked often enough.

    Thank you for your reply. I didn't think it was a surname.
