Help with data entry for passenger lists
US, California—Passenger and Crew Lists for Various Ports, 1907–1956 [Part C] [M342-81H]
What do you suggest I enter for those who are listed as US Citizen? I'm guessing blank according to the instructions, but this information seems so important to the status of the individual and other crew members have their country of origin listed.
Here are the instructions for this field....
Field Help: Nationality or Country of Origin
Type the locality.
You should expand abbreviations or correct misspellings when you can tell what the abbreviation stands for or what the correction should be to the spelling.
Do not index the citizenship in this field.
If the locality was not recorded or was written as a variation of the word "unknown," press Ctrl+B to mark this field blank.

Thank you for your question @LaurieSomes.
You are correct to mark the Nationality or Country of Origin field blank for those records that have U.S. Citizen recorded under the "Travel Doc. No. Nationality" column in your batch.
That information is important, and the Project Instructions under What to Remember about This Project, bullet point 2 says, "The completed index will be freely accessible online to the general public when the collection is published."
A researcher, when led to the image, will see the citizenship recorded on the image, so that important information will be available to them.

Hi LaurieSomes, I believe the reason that you are not getting any response is that we are unable to open the shared batch. I have tried a few times and get the Restricted Batch notice.
This could mean that you have returned the batch or that it is only available in a certain area. Without being able to see the batch it is very difficult to give you a good answer.
