Problem with image viewer

Since yesterday, I cannot view any document images on the web-site. I see only black boxes.

Sometimes I see the "Error loading image. Please try again later." popup.

I tried to restart the browser, logged out and back in, clear cookies and use different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge). I also tried to connect through VPN to ensure that the problem is not related to my IP address. Nothing helps.

    I have been informed that this image viewer problem is a known issue. It has something to do with the limitations of the viewer software. I've also been informed that if you look at the same film through the viewer found in Images you will not have this problem.

    Sam Sulser has added a good set of instructions for using the film or DGS number to find the images you are interested in.

    @Aleksei32,

    I understand that you are having difficulty viewing images. Some of the issues that we are seeing include: the system may freeze up for long periods of time preventing you from seeing the next image; you see an error message, "Error Loading Image;" or you may see some other error, such as Error 429 - and with all these, you are unable to view the image.

    We really need your help, as these problems are not always able to be reproduced. Therefore, we ask that you provide as much information as possible: (1) what film are you viewing, (2) how are you trying to view the images, e.g., are you viewing image-by-image or did you try to go to a single, known image number; (3) after how many images did you see the problem; (4) please provide a screen-shot of the specific error message that you see. The more information that we have, the sooner we will be able to fix the problem.

    We understand that this problem is causing a lot of frustration and we apologize for it. With your help, we hope to be able to resolve it.

    Continuous error message for the last two weeks: "Error Loading Image. Please Try Again Later"

    (1) what film are you viewing, (most recent) Film # 004752778

    (2) how are you trying to view the images, e.g., are you viewing image-by-image or did you try to go to a single, known image number; error occurs during both instances

    (3) after how many images did you see the problem; abt. 25 images

    (4) please provide a screen-shot of the specific error message that you see. "comment" won't accept screen-shot. "Error Loading Image. Please Try Again Later"

    The more information that we have, the sooner we will be able to fix the problem.

    Hi, I too have been having the same problem; on my laptop since last year, and last night the first time on my iPad. I deleted my browsing history, etc and when I went back in the image was frozen on my screen and I couldn’t advance it. It was still like this - see images- this morning. When I’m on my laptop I just leave the searching for a bit, then resume when it is working again. I browse both unindexed films and indexed records for The Bahamas and Florida. If I’m viewing indexed images on my laptop, the text at the bottom will advance but the image will not. This seems to happen after looking at about 20 or so images. I am still unable any images on my iPad.

    Thank You.

    The engineers made some changes to this. Has anyone in this post had this issue in the last 30 days?
