No matter how many new names and information I add to my family search information it always defaults to the same distant relative every time I log in. This has been going on for months. I haven't added anything to this relatives information since last year. Why is this happening?

Check your account settings. Normally the website defaults to us, be we can set a default person under settings.

Click on your name in the upper right corner of any page and choose Settings. Then click on the Account tab. In the third group of items is "Family Tree Starting Person" and see what is there.

I suspect that when you were working on your current default person last year that you or a helper set it to that person. Just change it back to yourself.

You can also click on the house in the upper right-hand corner, and this will take you back to yourself. It is also possible to click on "Recents," and you will see yourself at the very top and a list of the last 20 people you have visited.
