When I open my tree it starts at a great grandfather; but in my account settings I have it set to start with me. What is wrong?

Nothing is wrong, the programme now opens up where you last left off. To return to the position with you as the starting person, just click on the home icon (house) in the top right hand corner of the tree page, or find your self at the top of the Recents page.
