I have been following your chat concerning the Virginia marriage index. It appears to me that there are actually 4 separate columns. Two on the left hand page and two on the right hand page. To me, the columns do not appear to be connected as in husband and wife. The dates and the book and page # don't match for the male and female. I agree with you that this is an index but it does have a date and the instructions seem to direct us to index the batch if there is a name and a date.
- Indexes are images with only a name and reference information, such as page or volume number, with no other information, such as dates, available. Indexes should be marked as No, No Extractable Data.
So I agree that it should be indexed. I think that each entry would only have 1 name and a year date. All other fields would be (blank), use the fill down function. The first entry would be Wm. T Elliott 1854.
This is just my opinion.
Hope this helps.

I have looked over this image and there are no blank names. This image is a part of a book that was common during the time; late 1800's-early 1900s. The given names are broken down in three columns, A-H, I-O and P-Z. These take a little extra time and care, because you'll have Wm T., Andrew A., and Robert, then the next seven begin with the letter "J".

Each entry asks for more information than just the names. Do I leave all the remaining fields blank and also there is not a place for page and book#. Only the name of the person will be on each record. Is that correct?

Here I am again. If all else fails, read the instructions! Looks like this register has no extractable data. Not enough info to be of value.

Do not mark this No, No Extractable Data. Every image in every project is different. Heck, every entry in every project may not have everything. This image has the marriage year and both spouses given and surnames. Everything else will be marked blank (Ctrl+B). The book and page numbers are not indexed.

Thank you, Larry Clark. I will follow your answer and index the name and date.
