How do I get a recorded name corrected for Cameron Desmond?
The attached microfiche of census data for South Oxford County Ontario shows Emerson Desmond as son of Lawrence Desmond of Ingersoll, ON. The name was incorrectly interpreted from the handwriting on the census and should be Emerson Desmond. My Great Uncle, who I knew well, was christened Arthur Emerson Desmond. There is no Cameron.

The referenced 1911 Ontario census link: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-8987-GX4C?i=31&cc=2143998
The index of the census record is not currently editable - but the census record has been attached to your great uncle and you can note that the index is transcribed incorrectly in the Source Notes:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/G31S-TW7
Otherwise if a FamilySearch moderator can forward this to the engineers to edit - that might help but is not likely in my experience.

@E Newman I'm afraid that @genthusiast is correct about this collection. Some of our indexes can't be edited at this time and this is one of them. The next best thing to do is to attach the source to the correct person, which has been done. And as genthusiast stated you can add a note in the source and mention that the document was indexed incorrectly. You can do that by clicking the source on the person source page and then scroll to the bottom of that source and add+ a new reason.
