Missing set of microfilms in catalog

The probate records kept in the State Archives of Solothurn in Switzerland were microfilmed sometime around 20 November 1989. I suspect that from this series, a set of about 30 films were not indexed correctly and thus do not appear in the FamilySearch Catalog. The missing films should contain the probate records of the county of Olten.

There is one film that contains some probate records from this county. This is film 1659016 (DGS 9050326), items 1 through 3. These items do not appear in the catalog as searchable records. Item 4, belonging to a different county, is properly indexed.

For example, item 1 from this film should be searchable with the following parameters:

Author: Olten (Solothurn). Oberamt

Language: German

Note: Inventar und Teilungen, Wangen 1845-1851

Place: Wangen, Solothurn, Switzerland

Question: Could someone locate the other microfilms containing the probate records from the county of Olten, Solothurn, Switzerland? Could someone make these records discoverable in the FamilySearch catalog?

The Family History Library answered my email yesterday. The records I've been looking for were microfilmed, but are currently not available in the catalog for legal reasons.

Thanks for the effort, but these are the probate records of the city of Solothurn. What I’m looking for are the probate records of the city and county of Olten.

Perhaps you could try writing to the email address, [email protected] which is the email address to report catalog errors, and from what I understand, is a department in the Family History Library.

Certainly the situation you report with 1659016 seems to be related to the catalog.

However, when you say you suspect a "set of about 30 films were not indexed correctly", do you have some evidence of this? Perhaps there is always the possibility that some records were never filmed in the first place, due to a variety of reasons such as brittle paper, water/insect/rodent damage, unavailability

Okay. I've written an email to [email protected] about this issue.

Yes. The evidence is presented in my original question. At least some of these records were microfilmed, digitized, but not indexed. I was able to discover these records because they are on another roll with records from another county.
