For the projects from South Africa, Johannesburg—Cemetery Records, 1840–2019

Found some info today that will help any "City of Braamfontein - Johannesburg Crematorium" records to have a 4 digit year, with certainty. The crematorium was not built until 1931, so you can be sure of the date even though records in the project go back to the 1800's, if the top of the form says the mentioned place above or any kind of cremation at all, this place was the first one to do cremation in that area. This info was about half way down the page in the following website:

All cremation is definitely between 1931 to 2019! Easy to ensure a 4 digit year now! :)

Thank you, that is very helpful. On some records you can safely tell the date when the causes of death are listed in modern terms rather than from the 19th century terms. i.e. dropsy, and the like

@BlakeleyNikkiAlice1 General Indexing Guidelines and most Project Instructions tell us we should not assume or "safely tell" dates from other information (like cause of death) on the record -- we should index what we see.
