How to denote stepchildren when linking from a census

    There is not a way that I know of to make that designation from the source-linker. After you attach the source, what you do is go to the relationship area on the detail page and click the pencil icon of the child, then click "+Add Relationship Type" of the step-parent then click the drop down arrow and choose Step then Save.
