How do I use the Help Others link in Family Tree?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can use the Help Others link. Use it to view another person's family history information in Family Tree. Please use this tool to help someone else experience the blessings of temple and family history work.

    Before you start

Ask the other person for permission before you try to help. Never ask for a FamilySearch password. The password is private. To act as a helper, you need this information:

    1. The person's helper number. The person can find it in the account permissions.
    2. The person must also supply his or her username or full name and date of birth.

    Steps (website)

    1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
    2. Click Family Tree and then Tree.
    3. On the top right, click Help Others.
    4. If you know the person's username, click Username. Otherwise click Full Name.
    5. Enter the requested information, and click Sign In. The helper number is case-sensitive.
    6. When you finish on the top banner, click X and then Stop helping.

@David A. Peterson, Click the little circle thing that is supposed to look like a Life Preserver

I use the Life Preserver Icon "Help Others" often, I use it with first & last name, dob & helper number. I too have experienced a problem of not being able to sign-in as helper lately. My current working theory is that this method may be failing if the person has never setup a familysearch account. I'm just guessing right now. I have a person I was going to do some preliminary work this week prior to our meeting Sunday and could not get the Help Others to work for him.
