Merging difficulties

A guest sent the following: "After you merge a person, you cannot go back to where you were, but rather you have to close out and re-enter.  This does take up a lot of time and is inconsistent with your program which is very good except for this.  Also, you cannot cut and paste a persons ID number and put it in the merge field.  It has to be typed, not copied and pasted.  Can you fix these issues?" Any helpful comments I will pass along to this guest.

I have not encountered either of those problems or symptoms, and I spent most of yesterday merging index-based duplicates, sometimes using Possible Duplicates, sometimes using Merge by ID.

What device and software is this person using?

I'm on a laptop with Windows 10, using Firefox 104.0. When I finish a merge, it puts me right on the surviving profile that I started from. Initiating a merge using Merge by ID, I have never needed to type anything; I always just paste in the ID that I've copied either manually (by selecting it and hitting ctrl-c) or using FS's "copy ID" widget.

Very rarely, copying an ID adds a space before or after the characters, causing Merge by ID to balk, but this is easily fixed by deleting the leading or trailing space(s).
