Helper Feature in the new profile

It's on its way. It's just getting built in the new person page now.

Where is the Help Others option on the new Home Page? It used to be at the top right.

It does not exist on the new Home Page at present. Go back to the old Home Page if you want to use it.

The Help Others has been relocated to any individual that you pull up in your tree. Note it's in the upper right section of the attached screen shot for my gr-grandfather; it appears in the same area for any individual. Don't know why the engineers moved it into that obscure location. Numerous folks requested replacing it to the original, and supposedly that will occur at some future date.

I think it is very handy to be able to access "help others" from the person/detail page. I often switch back and forth at the FHC from helping others to my own account.

@Chas Howell That has always been possible, and continues even now on the "old" home page version. However, many folks log into FamilySearch specifically to help others and like to do it directly from the home page. The new home page doesn't provided that quick access.

@WilbergClarkN, Yeah, your comment, "The Help Others has been relocated to any individual that you pull up in your tree" and "Don't know why the engineers moved it into that obscure location" threw me. It hasn't been relocated or moved, it has been removed from the Home page (old page vs new page)

I wonder if anyone designing this 'new' page with the ability to modify the layout to each individual's preference considered the difficulty created for tbose working in tbe Family Search Centers and helping others.
With this layout flexibility, it could cause great confusion in finding the data & helping users with the multitude of different layout that can now be made.

@CaptBob, you have a valid point. Helping others who may have different screens will cause some inefficiency but balancing that with the ability to customized to a user’s preference has prevailed in this case. For me, I prefer the option of ordering the various sections.
CaptBob, off topic here but, what’s really crippling IMO is that the new Help Others Lifesaver Icon no longer allows a Helper to sign-in with the patron’s name, dob & helper number.

This might make the collapse/expand section feature more used. Maybe that would be a first step for those helping - so that they see the custom layout more easily?

@Chas Howell a new Helper page is coming

@Maile L, new helper page coming is fine, but specifically, will it have the ability to sign-in as helper with the patron’s name, dob & helper number? That is my concern. Someone said somewhere that that feature would only be available to FamilySearch missionaries and employees and not to regular Ward Temple and Family History Consultants.

I do not know the details of what will be included.

@Chas Howell Maybe there will be expanded FamilySearch missionary opportunities.?

On the new Home Page (which I otherwise like well) there is no Help Others toggle in the upper right-hand corner, as there is on the old Home Page. It is odd to have to click into some random person on your own tree in order to access that toggle if you're trying to enter a Username and Helper Number to get into someone else's tree! Thanks so much!

The helper feature in the new profile expects you to know the username of the person being helped. It's usually the ones that don't know their username that needs the help. The old system that requires name, birthdate and helper number is so much more useful. All I need to help someone is their temple recommend. I help so many people on a regular basis, if this option is removed, it will stop me completely.

I agree wholeheartedly with @Tamera Terry. Please restore the Helper function of name, dob & helper # (last 5 digits of MR) to at least Temple & Family History Consultants, Temple Presidency/Matrons, Recorders and staff.

It appears that access to "help others" would be useful for some from Person/Detail page, but I feel it also needs to be available from the new home page. Personally, when I log into FamilySearch to help someone, I would prefer to access it from the home page rather than going into my tree first. It's just an extra step. Why not make it available in both places?

@GaelWeberg --As you have probably read in the "Notes" on this thread, this has been an on-going discussion--with assertions from the engineers that it would be corrected and "Help Others" would be returned to the home page. As you noted, all those assertions haven't come to fruition yet. Lots of folks agree, but engineers evidently don't think it warrants the change.

In the new homepage, Help Others is on Family Tree view page. Still in the upper right corner, but no longer on the home page. Go figure. I use this quite frequently also; I was trying to get used to the new homepage view and thought it was missing.
