Please Help. I have 2 people with the same ID number. Very Strange.

Cora B. Frampton has same ID number as Cora Ellen Wimer (KH91-T7Q). I corrected the family relationships, but need help getting the ID numbers separated. (I'm working on Cora Ellen Wimer).

    @Blissjam

    When I search on KH91-T7Q I only get Cora Ellen Wimer.

    It looks like someone erroneously merged Cora B (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LWG3-7JD) into Cora Ellen way back in 2016. (The person apparently thought that Frampton was Cora B's married name, but given that she's listed with this name on the 1900 census, when she's all of seven years old, this is obviously wrong.)

    She's apparently living in both Pennsylvania and California in 1930, so there's quite a bit of detangling to be done. You'll probably want to start with exploring Cora Ellen's full change log ("Show All" under Latest Changes, in the right-hand column of the profile's detail page).

    The comment by @Julia Szent-Györgyi is correct. The two Coras have been merged in November 2016 - in error it would seem. There have been a lot of changes since then by various people.

    Because Family Search is a collaborative tree when one person makes a change it shows on the family of everyone connected to that person. We encourage contacting the person who made the change and find out their reasons and sources. Often you can find out important information to further your research by doing this. Of course they may not answer...

    If you are convinced this merge is incorrect, to unmerge click Cora B. Frampton or the link in the above comment. To find the merge, in Latest Changes on the right, click 'show all', find the merge (Nov 2016) in the window that opens, and click on the deleted person. In the box that opens, click on her name again or click 'person'. When that page opens you have the opportunity to 'restore person' (shows on the bottom right of name box). Put in your reason statement and click restore. This should separate them and give each their own PID.

    Here is a Knowledge Article from Help Centre that explains how.

    How do I undo a merge in Family Tree?

    Now you need to check the information on Cora Ellen's vitals is still correct as changes may have occurred during the merge.

    Click here to find out how. How do I restore a deleted record for a person in Family Tree?

    Hope this helps.
