I am having a problem with people changing what I had and it not being right. Just because people have the same name does not mean they are the same person. I've had people add my dad to their tree and they completely have the wrong parents. Then I went in again and They had mixed up my Great grandmother with someone else in the area. Now I have to go back in and correct everything and you don't just have to correct this one person you have to correct every person attached to them. I understand the concept of one big tree but what good does that do if it's all wrong. I thought the whole idea of doing a family tree is to find the right information. Not to have wrong information out there.
The entire purpose of FamilySearch is rather lengthy, but I am going to give it to you.
The overall purpose of Family Tree is to help you discover your family and, in turn, discover a bit about yourself.
It is our hope that, through Family Tree, we can work together to create the best-sourced, public genealogical family tree in the world and allow family members to connect both in the past as well as the present.
Yes, it is difficult when others add our ancestors where they do not belong, and we have to spend a lot of time correcting their errors. With all of us working together, cooperatively, it saves us a lot of time and energy. I hope things work out better for you in the future. PaulaAnn :)
